LTTE activities

This refers to the article, "LTTE testing the waters in Tamil Nadu?" (Jan. 7). The Tigers could not get a foothold in the State for the past few years thanks to the State Government's tough stand. However, the recent utterances of some of the politicians in the State supporting the group are not a good augury. These tendencies should be nipped in the bud.

The LTTE should emulate the Irish Republican Army, which laid down arms after realising the futility of war as an instrument to achieve political goals.
