Traffic police to check harassment of students

Following complaints against bus employees

KOZHIKODE: The city traffic police have constituted a special team under the Traffic Assistant Commissioner to deal with offences, including harassment, against students by bus employees.

The traffic police had received several complaints of students being asked questions by bus cleaners and not being allowed to board the buses till these started from the Kozhikode mofussil bus stand and Palayam bus stand.

The traffic police have started taking action against bus employees on the basis of the complaints.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Traffic-II, Kozhikode city, has urged the bus owners in a release here to cooperate with the traffic police and passengers by instructing their employees in this regard.

The police said they would take action against bus employees found guilty of not allowing students to board the buses till the buses started, parking buses at the mofussil bus stand for more than 20 minutes, repair and cleaning of buses at the bus stand and consuming alcohol at the bus stand.

The special team will go around bus stands in mufti to find out the violations and to take stringent action against the offenders.

Complaints can be made on phone number 2721017 (traffic station) or on 1090 (crime stopper phone number) or 100 (city police control room number). Complaints can also be made at the police aid posts in bus stands.
