Chennai: A Fox Terrier (Wire), Holy Ground's Special Edition, was adjudged the `best in show' in both the 68th and the 69th championship dog show conducted by the Madras Canine Club at the University Union ground on Sunday. The five-year-old dog, nicknamed Spike, is owned by Ms. Kalpana N. Setty. Rhythm Singing Girl, a Daschund Smooth bitch owned by Vish Deshmukh, and Urban Vom Serbeland, a German Shepherd dog owned by Sunny Dhaliwal, finished second and third respectively in the 68th show. Rhythm Singing Girl also won the `best in show bred in India', while another of Deshmukh's Daschund dogs, Vito Vernon of Martindom, was the `best puppy in show' in the 68th show, judged by Ms. Jackie Perry of FCI. V.N. Shakti Kumar's German Shepherd dog Teja's Flick finished second in the 69th show and was also adjudged the `best in show bred in India', while Jaimitt Henry's Basset hound bitch Bassbarr Cabaret was placed third. Sanjana's Gilda, a Doberman bitch owned by B. Vasudeva Reddy was the `best puppy in show' in the 69th show judged by Kikuhiko Kashiwagi of Japan. C. Sylendra Babu, Jt. Commissioner of Police - South, gave away the prizes.
