Minister's appeal to vehicle users

Pondicherry: Local Administration and Transport Minister A Elumalai has called upon the vehicle riders to strictly adhere to road rules, as there had been increase in road accidents in the Union Territory over the years.

Distributing certificates to those proficient in various competitions and spectacles to a batch of vehicle drivers on the concluding day of the 17th Road Safety Week celebrations here on Sunday, Mr. Elumalai said there was need to promote awareness among people about the necessity to adhere to traffic rules.

M A S Subramanian MLA said traffic authorities should warn vehicle riders against using mobile phones while riding. The Transport Commissioner S M Khannaji and the non- official member of the State Transport Authority N.Purushothaman spoke.
