HYDERABAD: Munsiff, Hyderabad, won the inaugural Susai Sr Memorial inter-locality football tournament, organised by Shastri Soccer Club, with a hard-fought 5-4 win over Bolarum via tie-breaker in the final at TrimulgherryVillage grounds here on Sunday. The teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation time. Munsiff emerged winners with Md. Azeem, Md. Mozzam, Siraj, Omer and Salah scoring, while Laxminarayana, Sai Kiran, Raghu and Mallikarjun were successful with Kalyan's attempt blocked by a diving goalkeeper Mohammed Alil Khan to his left. The winner was richer by Rs.10,000, and the runner-up Rs. 5000. S. Satyanarayana, MP, gave away the prizes.
Bradman XI, SCF
win titles
Bradman XI and Sports Coaching Foundation emerged champions in the under-12 and under-13 categories respectively of the Col. C.K. Nayudu Memorial floodlit cricket tournament at the SCF grounds at Hyderabad. In the under-12 final, Bradman XI defeated SCF by narrow margin of two runs. SCF clinched honours in the under-13 category with a comfortable 49-run win against Loyola High School. Special prizes were given to Sunil Nayudu (man of the series), Harsha (best fielder), Kamraan (man of the match), Daanyal (best wicketkeeper) in the under-12 category and to Nazar (man of the series), Yashasvi Ram (man of the match) and N.R.N. Rohit (best wicket-keeper). Chinnappa Reddy, technical advisor to State Government (sports) gave away the prizes. The scores: All finals: Under-12: Bradman XI 81 for three bt SCF 79 for seven. Under-13: SCF 110 for two (Yashasvi Ram 41 not out) bt Loyola HS 61 (Nazar 34, Yashasvi Ram four for 11).
Match drawn
Rising Stars and Deccan Stars were locked in a two-all draw in the B Division hockey league championship at Gymkhana grounds in Hyderabad. Deccan took the lead in the second minute through Md. Bin Aleem and M.A. Khurram scored the second goal in the 12th minute. But, Rising Stars fought back well to score twice through Rohit in the 14th and 34th minutes. In other matches, Youth Association got a walkover from MCH Chintalbasthi and Republic Boys Club from MCH Khilwath.
Easy for Vidya Jyothi
Vidya Jyothi Engineering College recorded a seven-wicket win over Swami Vivekananda College of Engineering in the Vandemataram inter-engineering college cricket tournament in Hyderabad. The scores: Mahaveer College 139 (Chaitanya 51, Ravi five for 40) lost to PRRM College 140 for seven; BV Raju College 152 (Pankaj 36, Nishath 44, Bharath five for 18) lost to JBIET 154 for eight (Nitin 50, Raman three for 15); SHIET 128 for eight (Nipun 35, Srikar three for 14) lost to Vasavi College 129 for three (Srikar 56); Swami Vivekananda College 117 for eight (Sai Pratap three for five) lost to Vidya Jyothi College 118 for three (Sai Pratap 36).
