Special Food Park to come up at Peddapuram

  • Private food processing park coming up at Surampalem

    Kakinada: A Special Food Park, on the lines of export promotion zone, will come up shortly at Peddapuram in a sprawling area of nearly 150 acres. The APIIC has proposed to acquire the site required for the setting up of export-oriented food processing units in the

    special park.

    Official sources said that the park would have units related to food processing, including cold storage, testing laboratories and packaging units, all of international standards. The proposal, it is stated, is awaiting Government clearance.

    This is in addition to the private food processing park coming up at a 42-acre site at Surampalem along the ADB road.

    As work at the private food park is in progress, it is expected to be ready by August. The specialty of the park is that fifty percent of the total investment would be in the form of grant from the Union Ministry of Food and Commerce.

    The long awaited Industrial Estate for Rajahmundry city proposed at Velugubanda village of Rajanagaram Mandal is yet to receive Government clearance. It was proposed to acquire 112 acres for thes

    Corridor

    Another important proposal pending with the Government that can accelerate industrial development, official sources said, was the corridor across Tuni Mandal to Sakhinetipalli

    Mandal in between sea cost and the National Highway 214. A total of twenty-one Mandals in the district would be benefited by the proposalwith Rs. 5,600 crores as investment envisaged by both the State and Central Governments.

    Sources claimed that if the corridor materialises, it would prove a boon to the East Godavari district as a lot of industries coming up there could provide employment avenues to the youth.
