SIVAGANGAI: Four goals by Sudhakar and one each by Samabishesam, Anandan and Sankar helped Tiruvallur thrash Namakkal 7-0 in the Tamil Nadu State junior inter-district football championship, conducted by Star Muslim Football Club, at Ilayangudi, near here, on Sunday. In another match, Tirunelveli mauled Vellore 11-0. Kingslin Stephen, Maria Jason, John Paul, Ramesh and Robin Stellus scored a brace each while Lenin netted one.
Vikram Engg. posts win
Vikram Engineering College beat Railway Institute 3-2 in the Madurai District Football Association `B' division league at Madurai on Sunday. Mohan, Askar and Azar were the scorers for Vikram, while Gunasundar and Anbuselvan were successful for Railway Institute.
Udumalpet BC progresses
Udumalpet Basketball Club entered the pre-quarterfinals of the 12th annual Rtn. PHF. G. Sundararajan Mani Vizha Trophy State-level basketball tournament at Dindigul, defeating Gandhigram Rural Institute 63-50 on Sunday. The results (second round): Udumalpet BC 63 (Garey 20, Vijaya Pandi 22, Chandran 10) bt GIR 50 (Jeyachandran 15, Dineshkumar 13); Breeze BC 55 (Viji 20, Sathish 19) bt GSBC (Nilakottai) 42 (Nagarajan 15). Southern Districts hockey
