HYDERABAD : Home Minister K. Jana Reddy has termed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's remarks about Andhra Pradesh being the hub of terrorist activity as `unfair' and `far from the truth'. At a press conference here on Sunday, the Home Minister regretted Mr. Modi's statement made on Saturday and asked the Gujarat leader to recall where and under whose rule the Parliament attack and Godhra and Akshardham incidents occurred. Against the backdrop of Gujarat-related incidents, whatever had happened in Andhra Pradesh since 1992 could at best be described as `stray', Mr. Reddy said recalling the incident at Sai Baba temple in Dilsukhnagar, the scare at a Ganesh temple near Secunderabad Railway Station and blast at the office of the Police Commissioner's Task Force in Begumpet. Since 1992, while four ISI agents were killed in encounters with the police, 171 were arrested, he said.
ISI activities
Replying to a volley of questions on the release of Mujib Ahmed, the ISI agent accused in the murder of police officer Krishna Prasad, the Minister said he had asked for a review of the mercy. The Government was firm on taking the necessary action. Officials were looking into Mujib's current activities, his friends and contacts, he said. Mr. Jana Reddy said the State had special cells that were looking into terrorism and with cooperation from other States and the Centre, it would definitely root out terrorism.
