Water supply to be affected

NEW DELHI: Due to repair of leakages, water supply will be affected on Monday at Punjabi Bagh West, Punjabi Bagh East, Karam Pura, Moti Nagar, Rani Bagh, New Moti Nagar, Jaidev Park, Manohar Park and Chhana Mal Park.

Water supply will also be available at low pressure from Monday to Saturday at Malka Ganj, Old Sabji Mandir, Kamla Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Rajpur Road, Police Line area, Roop Nagar and Shri Ram Institute due to the annual flushing of Jeet Garh reservoirs.

Due to major repair work at Pushker Enclave and near Peera Garhi, water supply will be available at low pressure in the evening of Monday to morning of Tuesday at Delhi Cantonment, R.K. Puram, Vasant Vihar and Moti Bagh.

National Veena Festival inaugurated

NEW DELHI: "The veena is the symbol of India's glorious musical tradition and is central to our musical heritage. It is from veena that most other stringed instruments have evolved,'' said Delhi Lieutenant-Governor B. L. Joshi while inaugurating the two-day National Veena Festival at India International Centre here over the weekend. Also present on the occasion were former Chief Election Commissioner G.V.G. Krishnamurthi and Chairperson of the Foundation L. M. Singhvi. In his address, Mr. Joshi said while veena represents the confluence of the science of musical sounds and the Indian philosophy of harmony and tranquility, it also represents unity, continuity and national integration.

DTH facility to spread education

NEW DELHI: Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) H.P. Dikshit on Sunday declared that efforts were being made to provide educational programmes of the university to remote areas of the country through Direct to Home facility.

Speaking at a special teleconferencing session at the Electronic Media Production Centre of the university, Prof. Dikshit informed that various organisations of the country were regularly approaching IGNOU to reach out to their target groups and enter into collaboration with them so as to expand their activities by using information and technology of distance education.

Respiratory check-up camp organised

NEW DELHI: A "Free Respiratory Check-up Week" organised by G.M. Modi Hospital and Research Centre for Medical Sciences concluded here over the weekend.

During the week, the focus was on detailed check-up of respiratory ailments. "Smoking is the leading cause of chronic obstructive lung disease which can even lead to lung caner," said Dr. P.K. Mangla, Consultant, Respiratory Medicine, at the hospital.
