  • He said it was high time the party went for a `kill' against the opponents
  • A cycle campaign would be kicked off from February 21

LUCKNOW: Samajwadi party supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav announced holding of a youth rally and a ``cycle'' campaign to prepare for Assembly polls after his party's stupendous success in Zila Panchayat Chairmen polls.

Addressing the four youth wings of the party here, Mr Yadav said that a massive youth rally would be held in the state capital on January 29 and a cycle campaign would be kicked off from Februrary 21 as part of preparations for the Assembly polls in 2007.

Claiming that the opposition parties have been wiped out in the Zila Panchayat chairmen elections in which SP and its ally Rashtriya Lok Dal bagged 53 out of the total 69 seats, he said it was high time the party went for a `kill' against the opponents.

The youth rally would be held at the Laxman Mela ground in the State capital where about one lakh party supporters were expected to come while the cycle campaign would go across the State highlighting the achievements of the State Government.

Calling upon the party youths not to give any `space' to their opponents, Mr Yadav said they should immediately start preparing themselves for the Assembly polls.

Later talking to mediapersons, SP youth wings -- Lohia vahini, Mulayam Youth brigade, Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha, Samajwadi Chatra Sabha -- president Akhilesh Yadav, MP, said that the cycle campaign by the party will go to the nook and corner of the state to ensure that every commoner is made aware about the public initiatives taken by the SP led Government.- UNI
