JAIPUR: The Mine Labour Protection Campaign (MLPC) -- a non-Government organisation working for rights, health, safety and fair wages for mine workers in Rajasthan -- on Sunday called for reforms in the mining sector to address fundamental issues and safeguard the interests of labourers. The MLPC, which is organising a consultative meet on the mining issues here on Monday, felt that the proposed new mineral policy of the State Government had a tilt towards privatisation. It would set the ball rolling for multinational companies entering the mining sector with the minimum State intervention, said Sanjay Chittora, coordinator of MLPC. The State Minister for Mines and Minerals, Laxminarain Dave, will address the participants.
