Officials told to improve basic facilities
|
HYDERABAD:
Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has advised the Municipal chairpersons not to impose new taxes and improve the revenue by plugging loopholes in the local set-up and levy collection.
He urged the newly elected civic chiefs to improve the basic facilities to the people, while interacting with Korutla Municipal Chairman Ghafar on Sunday morning.
According to an official release, Dr. Reddy asked the municipal chairmen and councillors to move among the people and check availability of water and proper working of drainage, road network, streetlights and other utilities and take remedial steps. He told them to establish complaint wings to go into people's problems, particularly supply of ration cards, assistance to women's self-help groups and services to farmers.
He directed the Chairmen to ensure 24-hour water supply, by taking up ward-wise pipe laying work so that water could be made available to people twice a day.
