HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy received support from unexpected quarters against the criticism he is facing on the formation of Telangana. A meeting organised by the Telangana Employees' Association for release of its diary turned out to be a platform for the Congress and TRS leaders to vent their ire against each other. Even as the TRS leaders criticised Dr. Reddy, Congress MLA P. Janardhan Reddy warned them against criticising the Chief Minister since the Telangana issue was not in his hands. He wanted the TRS leaders to make public the agreement they entered into with the Congress leadership before the elections. "There is no point in criticising Congress president Sonia Gandhi or the Chief Minister," he said.
Narendra's warning
Union Minister A. Narendra who was the chief guest said the party had tried several ways to achieve separate Telangana democratically. "We are prepared to launch an intensive struggle and give sleepless nights to the Chief Minister. The Congress will have no future if it cheats the people of Telangana one more time," he said. As Mr. Narendra was about to leave the stage, Mr. Reddy stopped him objecting to the way the former was criticising the Congress. "How can you say the Congress will not have a future in the State. Is it because the TRS realised the fact that the continued dissidence had already posed questions on the party's survival?" Mr. Narendra, on his part, wanted to know why the Congress MLAs from Telangana remained silent after coming to power. "How long does the Congress want us to wait? Is it till the next elections? There is a limit to everything," he said. The debate, however, came to an end after Mr. Narendra said the meeting was not the appropriate forum to debate the issue.
