BANGALORE: The Government should implement the Sarojini Mahishi report recommendation on ensuring employment for Kannadigas in public sector undertakings, private companies and multi-national companies (MNCs), the report's author said here on Sunday. Speaking to presspersons after the 32nd convocation of the Karnatak Mahila Hindi Seva Samithi here, Dr. Mahishi lamented that although she had given the report 21 years ago, the Government had not implemented its recommendations. Political parties and Kannada organisations merely hold dharnas during the Rajyotsava celebrations demanding the report's implementation. But they fall silent later, she pointed out. However, with the recent entry of several MNCs to Bangalore, the Government had realised the significance of the report's recommendations, he said. Dr. Mahishi wanted the Government to strictly implement the report and take measures to resolve the issues that had stalled the process in the past. The Government on several occasions in the past lacked the will to implement the report's recommendations, she said. She said eminent people such as Siddhaiah Puranik and Gopalakrishna Adiga had publicised the report in various States, including Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. Yet, she regretted, the Government had not thought it fit to implement the recommendations. Earlier, Dr. Mahishi honoured rank-holders in the Hindi examinations. Vice-Chancellor of the Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, G. Gopinathan, delivered the convocation address.
