VIJAYWADA: Despite all out efforts by the Government to improve the literacy rate by providing education to all, some sections still remained deprived of the benefit possibly due to lack of awareness about available facilities, Finance Minister K. Rosaiah said here on Sunday. Addressing a meeting organised by Siddhartha Walkers' Club and Chalavadi Jamalayya Memorial Charitable Trust to distribute scholarships to students from economically weaker sections, Mr. Rosaiah, however, expressed satisfaction over an emerging positive trend. "Unlike in the past when only children from affluent families had access to higher studies, education is now being seen by all sections of society as an important tool," he pointed out. Film comedian K. Brahmanandam said he could not afford to decline the invitation for the programme since he knew the importance of a scholarship. "I completed a part of my studies with the scholarship I had received when I was a student," he revealed.
