Thiruvananthapuram: As many as 28 persons were injured in three separate accidents in the city suburbs on Sunday. Twelve persons, including two children, were injured when the multi-utility vehicle in which they were travelling lost control and hit a wall near Venjaramoodu on Sunday evening. The group, belonging to a family from Mayyanad, Kollam, were on their way back after the Mariamman temple at Vembayam when the accident occured. Two children, Appu (2) and Sujith (3), have been admitted to the SAT hospital. Two others, Manju (27) and Santhosh (30) have been admitted to the Medical College hospital and the rest are being kept under observation at the MCH casualty wing. In another accident, 14 persons, including nine women and two children, were injured, when the van in which they were travelling collided with a lorry on the National Highway at Pallippuram late on Sunday night. The injured were admitted to the Medical College Hospital. The accident occurred at 11.15 p.m. The police have booked a case of rash and negligent driving against the driver of the lorry involved in the accident. Two youth,Liju (25) and Sudhir (25), were injured when the motorbike on which they were travelling was hit by a car near Kazhakkuttom, on Sunday.
