Thiruvananthapuram: The minimum wages Act will soon be made conditional for employing individuals as domestic workers, Labour Minister Babu Divakaran has said. He was inaugurating the Domestic Workers' Day organised by the National Domestic Workers' Movement here on Monday. Mr. Divakaran said that domestic workers can secure their rights only through an organised movement. Pannyan Raveendran, MP, flagged off the rally organised by domestic workers. The meeting was chaired by chairperson, State Women's Commission, M. Kamalam. South Zone Joint Labour Commissioner Prakash Oliver; member of Women's Commission Lizzie Jose; president of Swathantra Matsyathozhilali Federation T. Peter, among others, spoke on the occasion.
