The City Police will organise a carnival to drive home awareness messages about road safety and traffic rules through entertainment. The programme titled Subha Yatra A Carnival for Safety will be held at Town Hall on Tuesday. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the programme at 1.15 p.m. A road show, featuring police bikes, recovery van, ambulance and other police vehicles, will be held in the morning. The road show will begin from Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium and terminate at the Town Hall. K. Padmakumar, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ernakulam Range, will hoist the flag after the road show. A free Ayurveda medical camp, exhibition of dog squad, bomb squad, riot equipment and police uniforms, police band, photo and poster exhibition on road accidents will also be held as part of the carnival. Entertainment programmes include a talk show, traffic quiz, magic show and a musical programme led by the music director duo Bernie-Ignatius. Wheelchairs will be distributed to five survivors of road accidents as part of the programme. Model traffic policemen selected as part of the `model road project' will be presented awards at the function and voluntary organisations working for creating traffic awareness among the public will also be honoured. The carnival will end with a fireworks display.
