The Aerotrain, a new lightweight passenger train capable of reaching 102 miles an hour, has made its debut as the first of several new types of trains to be put into service in the US this year. The Aerotrain made its inaugural run last week from Washington to Philadelphia, a distance of 141 miles, in two hours. It has ten coaches, seating 400 passengers. Its aluminium construction makes its weight about half of other trains.
