KANNUR: The Kerala Socialist Youth Federation (KSYF) State conference has urged the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government to extend the rural employment guarantee scheme to all districts in the State. In a resolution adopted by the conference on Monday, the KSYF demanded that all the districts be covered under the scheme now being implemented in a few backward districts in the State. The resolution also took exception to the UPA Government's decision to reduce ration quantity, saying that the decision would worsen the living conditions of the common man. The conference also demanded strong action against the practice of ragging on campuses. The two-day conference concluded here. KSYF secretary C.V. Saseendran spoke in reply to the discussion on the organisation report. Communist Marxist Party leader C.P. John, C.A. Ajeer and C. Balan were among those present. Mr. Saseendran was re-elected secretary of the KSYF. The other office-bearers are: Satheesh (president), H. Jayaprakash, M.V. Rajesh, P.C. Mohankumar, Asha Varghese, Seena Chandran (vice-presidents), P. Sunil Kumar, Murali Tharekkad, A.L. Rameshan, Rajiv, Attur Sharatchandran (joint secretaries).
