CHENNAI: District secretaries of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, who met here to discuss the party's state conference, have condemned the "false case" against party president M. Karunanidhi on the Karur bridge construction issue. The only resolution adopted at the meeting attended by all but one of the district secretaries and representatives from Pondicherry and Karaikal, described the case as a "planned" attempt. The `build operate transfer' concept was adopted when the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam was in power. Perambalur district secretary D. Raja, who was away in Australia in his capacity as Union Environment Minister, was the only absentee. The meeting also discussed the issue of Collectors not granting permission for the DMK's multi-media propaganda van. It noted that only some districts had granted the permission. It decided to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the Collectors who did not give the permission. The district secretaries also resolved that they would discuss with their Democratic Progressive Alliance counterparts in the districts, events to be organised as part of the `Oust Jayalalithaa' campaign from January 18.
