CPI (Maoist) calls for stir against State policies

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The CPI (Maoist) Central Committee has condemned the killing of 12 tribals at Kalinganara in Orissa, terming it as a "pre-hatched" conspiracy of the BJD-BJP Government and Tata Steel.

In a statement, Azad, spokesperson of the committee (provisional) hit out at various political parties for "shedding crocodile tears and showing mock opposition" to killing of tribals even while carrying out the same policies where they were in power. He blamed them for massive deployment of paramilitary and armed forces in seven States including Andhra Pradesh.

The party, Mr. Azad said, was appealing to people of all walks of life to condemn the ongoing repression on the tribals of Kalinganagar and support all struggles of the adivasis. The committee would extend support to the struggles in Andhra Pradesh among various other regions.

He expressed confidence that the fighting spirit and determination of people would thwart `diabolic' plans of Central and State Governments to sell country's resources to their "imperialist mentors and comprador capitalists".
