RI for junior assistant in MDO office

Nellore: Judge of Special ACB Court, Nellore, P. Muthyala Naidu on Monday, sentenced N.K. Ansari, a junior assistant in the MDO's office of Mulakalacheruvu, Chittoor district to two years rigorous imprisonment and levied a fine of Rs. 3,000 on two counts.

The accused allegedly demanded Rs. 500 from P. Muralinatharaju of Peddarajupalli village, for releasing the subsidy of Rs. 2,500 relating to construction of a toilet and later reduced the bribe amount to Rs. 300. He was trapped on October 25, 1999, while accepting the amount and a case was filed by the then DSP, ACB, Tirupati, V.G. Ramamurthy Rao as per the report of the complainant, Raju.

During the hearing, however, the complainant started deposing in favour of the accused and the Judge ordered the Administrative Officer of the court, to file a separate case against him.
