Nellore: Senior vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Party M. Venkaiah Naidu has demanded an explanation from the State Government regarding the release of ISI agent, Mujib Ahmed. Addressing a press conference at Venkatachalasatram, 20 km from here on Monday, he referred to the latest statement of Home Minister K. Jana Reddy that the release was as per the decision of a committee and wanted the names of committee members and their recommendations to be made public. He demanded action against the officials concerned. Mr. Naidu expressed concern over increasing activities of terrorists, human bombs and ISI agents in Hyderabad and pointed out that Mujib was an accused in the murder of senior police officer Krishna Prasad. Knowing fully well, that he posed danger to society, his release on the grounds of mercy, was unpardonable, asserted the BJP leader. Dismissing a comparison with Aksharadham incident of Gujarat, he said that within seconds, six terrorists were gunned down, whereas in Hyderabad, suspected terrorists had made the city a hub for their activities. The BJP leader demanded complete revamp and streamlining of intelligence and security network in Andhra Pradesh.
Phone tapping
He described the allegations of phone tapping by Samajwadi Party leader, Amar Singh as serious and stated it was unethical on the part of Congress functionaries to demand the contents of conversation when the need was to curb such activity. The BJP leader said that two-day `Sankranti Sambaralu' will be celebrated from January 15, at Swarna Bharat Trust complex and film star Hema Malini would be the main participant.
