NEW DELHI: With North Block ready to settle down for the budget-making exercise in right earnest after the pre-budget consultations this week, Expenditure Secretary Adarsh Kishore is being elevated as Finance Secretary for better coordination within the Ministry. The official announcement to this effect is expected some time this week, according to official sources. Mr. Kishore, an IAS officer (Rajasthan cadre) and an old hand in budget-making, is being appointed as the Finance Secretary as he is the senior most among the secretaries in the Ministry and will be playing a pivotal role in the ongoing budgetary exercise as all files will henceforth be routed through him to the Minister.
