KOCHI: The 19th KRL marathon will be flagged off from the St Augustine's HSS Ground, Aroor, near here, on January 29 at 7 a.m. Organised by the Kochi Refineries Limited as part of the oil and gas conservation fortnight, the marathon will be run under five categories: boys and girls (10-15 years), men and women (above 16) and veteran men (above 40). The marathon will pass through Chandiroor, Eramalloor, Kuthiyathode, Thuravoor and Pattanakad to Ottapunna Junction in Cherthala and will return through the same route to the starting point. The event carries a total prize-money of Rs 1.5 lakh, with the winner's share being Rs. 22,000 in the men's section, Rs. 8,000 in women's and Rs 7,000 for the other category toppers.
