JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government on Monday decided to launch a special month-long revenue campaign in the Tribal Sub-Plan areas and the regions inhabited by the Saharia tribe to regularise the ownership of land and remove encroachments on tribals' land by influential people of higher castes. The tribals, who were rendered landless due to the Government acquiring their agricultural land for various irrigation projects, will also be allotted land at other sites during the campaign. Besides, mutation proceedings to alter the nature of land in the Government records will be undertaken. Official sources stated here that special camps would be organised at the panchayat level to provide immediate relief to the tribal population. Regularisation of land, where tribals have been living since long, will enable them to construct permanent houses. The campaign will be in operation from January 21 to February 28 and special camps will be held in the tribal-dominated panchayat areas falling in Udaipur, Banswara, Dungarpur, Sirohi, Baran and Chittaurgarh districts.
