One-day Haryana session on Jan.13

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Cabinet on Monday decided to convene a one-day session of the Vidhan Sabha here on January 13.

The specially-convened Cabinet meeting was presided over by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Even though officially no reason was assigned for convening the session, highly-placed sources said that it was likely that the Vidhan Sabha Speaker, H.S.Chatha, would be inducted as a Minister in the Cabinet expansion in the next couple of days. The session was being convened to elect a new Speaker, they added. The Cabinet also decided to merge the Haryana Institutional Finance and Credit Control Department (IFCCD) with the Finance Department.

An official spokesman said that the two departments would work in unison under the Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary of the Finance Department. All the assets and liabilities of the Institutional Finance and Credit Control Department would be transferred to the Finance Department.

All the existing vacant posts in IFCCD would be created in the Finance Department. The merger would not adversely affect the rights of IFCCD employees, he added.
