Special Correspondent

Plans to undertake an extensive campaign

Pondicherry: Newly appointed AICC general secretary and Member of Parliament V. Narayanasamy said here on Monday that he would undertake an extensive campaign to strengthen the Democratic Progressive Alliance in Pondicherry.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Narayanasamy thanked the Congress high command for giving him charge of Orissa and Madhya Pradesh and also for including former Chief Minister V Vaithilingam as one of the 13 special invitees of the AICC.

He said he would call on TNCC president G K Vasan and DMKpresident M Karunanidhi in Chennai. Later he would proceed to Sriperumbudur to pay homage at the memorial of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Narayanasamy said that the Tamil Nadu Government had delayed implementation of rehabilitation schemes for tsunami and flood-hit people. "Instead of evolving appropriate plans for the rehabilitation, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has been trying to push a wedge among the constituents of the Democratic Alliance party,'' he pointed out.

When his attention was drawn to the recent criticism of CPI State Committee secretary Nara Kalainathan, MLA against the Congress administration in Pondicherry, the AICC general secretary said that every party had the right to air its views.

He lauded the massive projects implemented by the Pondicherry Chief Minister for the good of the women and the helpless sections .
