Narayanasamy's appeal to Government

Form a society to help women SHGs market their products, he says

Pondicherry: The Congress leader, V. Narayanasamy MP, has urged the Pondicherry Administration to form a corporation or a society to enable women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to market their products using loans from banks and also subsidies from the Government.

Mr. Narayanasamy told The Hindu here on his return from Delhi after his appointment as AICC general secretary that such a facility would enable members to face the competition and go ahead with their self-employment projects.

He said the Central Government and also Pondicherry Government had implemented several measures for amelioration of the lot of the women and also generation of employment opportunities through various schemes. Women should come forward to take up social and political issues.

Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Sunday called on Mr. Narayanasamy at the party office and felicitated him on his appointment as general secretary of the AICC. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy also greeted Mr. Narayanasamy.
