KOCHI: Minister for Health K.K. Ramachandran, on Monday, denied allegations that some members of his office staff had demanded bribe for appointing part-time sweepers and transferring and posting doctors. A complaint to this effect had recently reached the Lok Ayukta. "I have full confidence in my staff and do not believe that any one of them would demand bribe from the poorest sections who are seeking appointment as part-time sweepers. None of my staff are involved in the transfers and postings of doctors," Mr. Ramachandran told presspersons. Those raising the allegations should specify the case and the persons who had demanded bribe. In that case, investigation could be ordered. Doctors were a powerful group, and all their demands could not be met every time.
