Easy for JJ Nagar

HYDERABAD: JJ Nagar scored a 2-0 win over Sashidharan XI in the Sudhakar Memorial under-16 football tournament, organised by the Shastri Soccer Club at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here on Monday.

After a barren first-half, JJ Nagar shot into lead in the 30th minute when winger Christopher latched on to a pass from half-back Prem Kumar to find the target. Within 10 minutes he was in the scoring act again, this time of a pass from Pramod.

In another match, VV Nagar downed a fighting Heroes Club 5-4 via sudden death after the teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation time and four-all in the tie-breaker.

KITS, Warangal triumphs

KITS Engg College, Warangal, recorded a thrilling, six-run win over CMR College, Hyderabad, in the SR Champions Cup inter-engineering college cricket tournament at Warangal, according to information received.

Varzavand's century

goes in vain

A century by Varzavand (122 not out, 8x4, 9x6) went in vain for Secunderabad Club as it lost to Cambridge by five wickets in the A-Division one-day league cricket tournament in Hyderabad.

AP volleyball teams

Andhra Pradesh teams to take part in the 54th senior National volleyball championships to be held in Pune from January 10 to 20 were announced in Hyderabad on Monday.

Carrom teams for Nationals

Hyderabad Carrom Association celebrated its 34th anniversary at a function at Fateh Maidan indoor regional carrom coaching centre.

Chinnappa Reddy, technical advisor to government (sports), lauded the contribution of the association, which produced a world champion in S. Appoorwa. A camp for the 12-member State squad for the senior Nationals to be held in Pune from January 20 to 25 was also inaugurated.
