Road Safety Week

CHENNAI: St John Ambulance is observing Road Safety Week as part of which an oratorical competition in English for CBSE and Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools will be held on January 10 at 11 a.m. The venue is 1, Mayor V.R. Ramanathan Road (East), Chetpet.

Blood donation

The Indian Red Cross Society Blood Bank conducted a blood donation camp at Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Chetpet. The camp was organised by the school principal.

Jeeyar visit

The 45th seer of Sri Ahobila Mutt, Sri Sadagopa Srinarayana Yatindra Mahadesikan, will be visiting Triplicane Mutt on January 11, where he will stay till January 13. On January 11, Pradosha Aradhanam will be performed; daily poojas will be performed on the other two days.

Temple clean-up

SMILE (Selfless Movement Improving Life Everywhere) cleaned the Mylapore Kapaleeswarar Temple. About 100 volunteers participated in the exercise, in which the temple vessels and pooja items were cleaned and saplings were planted. The entire process took five hours. SMILE has cleaned over 200 temples so far. Contact 98841 99284 for details.

Eye screening

The Centre for the Welfare of the Aged and Udhi Eye Hospitals organised a free eye screening camp at MGR Colony, Anna Nagar recently.

Meet on Continuum Mechanics

A conference on computational methods in Continuum Mechanics, organised by Anna University, will be held on January 11-12. There will be six lectures by scientists and mathematicians from India and abroad with 80 participants from various academic institutions and research laboratories.
