KCBC announces media awards

KOCHI: Literary critic M.K. Sanoo and writer George Onakkur are among this year's winners of the media awards instituted by the Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council (KCBC).

Prof. Sanoo has been selected for this year's Samskruti award, given to non-Christian writers, in appreciation of his humane and progressive social attitudes.

Dr. Onakkur has been selected for the literature award for his work Hrudayathil Oru Vaal.

Other award winners are Primus Perincheri (philosophy award) for his work Missionary Vyakaranam on contribution of missionaries on Malayalam grammar; Francis Kodankandathil (media award), for his series of paintings titled De-coding the mystery of Da Vinci Code; and Leo Thaddeus (Mar Sebastian Mankuzhikari young talent award) for his documentary Tree of Life. The award winners were selected by a committee headed by Bishop Mar Thomas Chakyath.

The awards will be presented at Pastoral Orientation Centre auditorium on January 29.
