KOCHI: Thripunithura Educational Sub-District edged past Ernakulam sub-district in an exciting finish to emerge winners at the District Revenue High School Kalotsavam that concluded here on Monday evening. When the final results were announced, Thripunithura topped the list with 503 points. The reigning champions Ernakulam with 502 points could not make it despite maintaining a clear lead till Saturday evening. Aluva sub-district, which shared the overall championship with Ernakulam last year, was pushed to the third position with 498 points. HSS Valayanchirangara won the trophy for the school that bagged maximum points in the High School section. The school won 146 points. Nirmala HSS Muvattupuzha emerged runner-up with 133 points followed by Sobhana EMHS Kothamangalam (101). In the Arabic (UP section) Kalotsavam, Thripunithura emerged winners with 115 points. Mattanchery came second with 107 points followed by Perumbavoor and Aluva (104 points each). MPMHSS Thammanam won the championship in Arabic (UP section) with 105 points. HIHSS Edavanakad bagged the second position with 104 points followed by MMOVHSS Panayappilly with 79 points. Perumbavoor sub-district won the championship in Sanskrit Kalotsavam (UP section). Thripunithura came second (204 points) followed by Aluva (202) and Angamaly (189 points). HSS Valayanchirangara won the trophy in Sanskrit Kalotsavam (UP section) scoring 159 points. BSUPS Kalady came second with 120 points. Perumbavoor continued its winning streak by winning the championship in Sanskrit Kalotsavam (High School section) with 209 points. Kolenchery came second (207 points) followed by Thripunithura (205) and Angamaly (204). HSS Valayanchirangara bagged the trophy in Sanskrit Kalotsavam (High School section) by scoring 174 points. BHSS Kalady came second (114) followed by GDHS Mattanchery (108) and SNDPHSS Udayamperoor with 101 points. In the Balakalotsavam (UP section) Thripunithura emerged champions by scoring 196 points. Aluva came second (193) followed by Perumbavoor 184 and North Paravur (177). Nirmala HSS Muvattupuzha won the trophy in Balakalotsavam (UP section) by scoring 84 points. St. Antony's HSS Kacheripady came second (75 points) followed by Lobeliya HSS Nayarambalam (69) and St. Joseph's CGUPS Thripunithura (69). In the Arabic Kalotsavam (High School section) Aluva won the championship by scoring 168 points. Perumbavoor came second (162) followed by Ernakulam (152) and Vypeen (149). HIHSS Edavanakad won the trophy in Arabic Kalotsavam (High School) by scoring 149 points. MPNEMHSS Thammanam came second (136) followed by BUVHSS Pulleppady (89) and GGHSS Perumbavoor (82).
23 appeals
The appeal committee received 23 complaints during the five-day festival. A final decision on these appeals will be taken on Wednesday. According to the new manual, the amount (Rs. 500) submitted along with an appeal will not be refunded. V. Sanu, Deputy Director of Education, Ernakulam, said that most of the appeals had been related to the verdict given by judges. Teachers and team managers had included some technical problems in their appeals. Lonappan Nambadan, MP, inaugurated the valedictory function. Trophies were distributed to winners of various events.
