THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Inspector General (IG) A. Rajasekhar, Commander Coast Guard Region (West), Mumbai, who is on a four-day visit to Kerala, called on Governor R.L. Bhatia at the Raj Bhavan here on Monday morning. The Commander was accompanied by Commandant M. Venkatesan, Station Commander, Coast Guard Station Vizhinjam and Lakshmi Rajasekhar, President, Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association, Coast Guard Region (West). The Inspector General apprised the Governor of various Indian Coast Guard projects and activities in the State. He thanked the Governor for support given by the State Government in setting up the Coast Guard stations at Vizhinjam and Beypore. The Governor expressed his appreciation for the prompt assistance rendered by the Coast Guard during natural calamities and assistance to local fishermen at sea. He also expressed appreciation for various search and rescue operations at sea.
