This Day That Age
The Maharajkumar of Vizianagaram, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, said at Banaras on January 9 that India was rightly proud of the world record set up by Mankad and Roy in the Madras Test. In a telegram to the President of the Madras Cricket Association, he has asked for the ball which was hit by Mankad when he made the highest individual score by an Indian in Test cricket and one of the stumps being used in the match. "I shall be proposing," the telegram added, "in the working committee of the Board that the ball and the stump be suitably mounted on silver stands and presented to the pair at a public function as a token of appreciation of their magnificent performance."
