Bangalore: The management of Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited on Tuesday set a precondition for participating in the conciliation meeting slated for January 12, making it clear that they will attend the meeting only if a peaceful atmosphere prevails outside the Labour Department. "We have received the communication from the Labour Department on the meeting scheduled for January 12. We have not yet confirmed our participation in the talks. We have informed the Labour Department that we will attend the meeting only if peaceful atmosphere prevails. Otherwise, we will not attend," a company spokesman told The Hindu . Workers affiliated to the unions are continuing with their sit-in agitation in front of the Labour Commissioner's office demanding conciliatory talks. The management representatives stayed away from the talks on Monday, stating that the atmosphere was not "conducive to hold such talks when the atmosphere was charged with emotions." TKM, a joint venture between Japanese car maker Toyota Motor Corporation and the Kirloskar Group, declared an indefinite lock-out since January 8 following a snap strike by the workers .
