KADAPA : A couple from Nellore presented a golden silk saree studded with diamonds, costing Rs. 15 lakhs, to Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Devi on the auspicious Mukkoti Ekadasi day at Ammavarisala temple at Proddatur on Tuesday. The couple -- Subba Rao and Radhika -- offered special poojas to the presiding deity and presented the expensive saree. Priests decorated the deity with the saree after poojas. Kanyaka Parameswari icon was taken round in procession in Proddatur. Arya Vysya Sangham president Busetty Ramamohana Rao, vice-president Jonnalagadda Ravi, honorary president Malapati Satyanarayana and others took part in the event.
Rush at temples
Thousands of devotees thronged temples in Kadapa, Proddatur and other towns from early hours. . Temples were colourfully illuminated and organisers made arrangements for special darshan through the `vaikuntha dwaram'. Devotees in large numbers offered prayers in Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Swamy temple, Devunikadapa, Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple, Jayanagar Colony, Sivalayam at Mrutyunjayakunta and other temples in Kadapa town. Rathanala Venkateswara Swamy, Chennakesava Swamy, Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy, Rajarajeswari, Atmarama Swamy, Rameswaram and Sivalayam temples in Proddatur town, temples of Venugopala Swamy, Lakshminarasimha Swamy at Bhuvanagiri, Ramalayam and Sivalayam at Rajampet and Narapura Venkateswara Swamy temple at Jammalamadugu also witnessed heavy rush.
