BANGALORE:
Our city is known as the high-tech hub of the region. Anyone going from Bangalore to another city is immediately taken for a software engineer or other information technology professional. Little is known about the culture and heritage of the city, which go back to the pre-computer age.
Among the organisations trying to promote arts and culture is the Garden City Cultural Academy. As part of the golden jubilee of the State's formation, it is conducting the Kuvempu centenary celebrations. As part of its celebrations will be a competition for artists in folk and modern dances and Bharatanatyam. The events will be held at ADA Rangamanmdira on January 18 and the best artistes will get prizes.
