700 outlets opened in Capital, satellite townships

NEW DELHI: To make phone bill payment more convenient for its subscribers, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited has tied up with India's largest bill collection network -- Easy Bill Limited. The company has opened over 700 outlets in the Capital and satellite townships where MTNL subscribers can deposit their cheques and get receipts for the same.

According to MTNL's Chairman and Managing Director R.S.P. Sinha, the facility will be available in Mumbai also where 350 outlets have been opened. "As market leaders in telecom and other IT-related services, we have an added responsibility towards our customers to provide them with convenient bill payment options," he said, adding that this one-stop bill payment shop would give more convenience to subscribers.

Stating that Easy Bill Limited was already providing similar service to a number of other service providers in telecom, power and financial sector besides the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for payment of property tax, the company's CEO Rahul Munjal said their service would provide convenience to both customers as well as MTNL. While customers have an easy and convenient way to pay bills, MTNL can now outsource their bill collections and concentrate on their core competence.

"We plan to expand from our current base of 1,500 outlets across 10 cities to over 10,000 in the top 50 cities in the next three years. Our outlets are located in areas that are frequented by customers like stores, chemist shops and departmental stores. These are usually open till late at night and on Sundays and holidays and customers get an instant authorised payment receipt at a nominal service charge of Rs.5 per bill," informed Mr. Munjal.
