CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and leaders of various political parties have conveyed their greetings to Muslims on the occasion of Bakrid on Wednesday. The Governor said, "On the holy occasion of Id-Ul-Zuha, the feast of sacrifice, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all my Muslim brothers and sisters. Let us resolve to promote unity, peace and harmony and rededicate ourselves for the cause of unity and integration." Conveying her greetings, the Chief Minister said the occasion taught us the way to lead a life as ordained by Allah. DMK president M. Karunanidhi said people should take a vow to live in unity and brotherhood. PMK founder S. Ramadoss said the occasion should help guide people to offer assistance to those affected by drought, Tsunami and floods. TNCC president G.K. Vasan, and general secretary of the MDMK, Vaiko, also conveyed their Bakrid wishes. The Chief Hereditary Trustee and Muthavalli of Dargah Hazrath Syed Moosa Sha Khaderi, Syed Moinuddin said, "May this festival foster goodwill, peace and happiness in our lives and unite us all in common brotherhood of humanity." Prince of Arcot Mohammed Abdul Ali hoped that the auspicious month would bring peace and harmony into the world. Su. Thirunavukkarasar MP, R.S. Raja Kannappan, founder-president, Makkal Tamizh Desam, Vijayakanth, president, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, Omar Farooq, president, Marumalarchi Muslim League, M.H. Jawahirullah, president, Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam, S. Sheikh Dawood, president, Tamizh Maanila Muslim League and M. Basheer Ahamed, president, Indian National League, have also conveyed their greetings .
