Minister to inaugurate telefilm on grading

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Education E.T. Mohammed Basheer will inaugurate a two-and-a half hour Malayalam telefilm on the grading system prepared by the Department of Education at a function at the Gorkhy Bhavanam at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

The film in which the Minister, the secretary general education and the DPI `star' along with 5,000 children and 100 teachers from six schools in the State deals with various aspects of the grading system, including the project, assignment, seminar and personality development.

The film was mainly shot in five locations in Thiruvananthapuram city, including Government Model School, Cotton Hill School, St. Joseph's school and Nirmala Bhavan School. The students and teachers from Mithraniketan school, Vellanad, too have their roles to play in the telefilm.

According to the Department of Education, the telefilm has many `firsts' to its credit.

This is the first film of its kind in the country that has been shot only in schools. This is also for the first time any Department of Education in the country is producing a film of this length, a press note issued by the department said.
