Telegrams sent to Railway Minister

Coimbatore: Members of the Salem Railway Division Protection Committee (SRDPC) on Tuesday launched an agitation by sending thousands of telegrams to Railway Minister Lalu Prasad seeking inclusion of Coimbatore, the Nilgiris and Erode region in the new division proposed at Salem.

The meeting of SRDPC on Saturday decided to launch a series of agitation to press for the demand.

As a first step, it was decided to send a minimum of 5,000 telegrams Mr. Lalu Prasad insisting that Coimbatore region should go with Salem division. The meeting alleged attempts by Kerala and accused the State of trying to retain Coimbatore with the Palakkad division.The members said that fairness of justice demands that Coimbatore and Erode should go with the new division.
