Probe sought into `graft' in warehousing corporation
Staff Reporter
KOCHI:
The Kerala State Warehousing Corporation Employees' Union, affiliated to the Centre of Indian Trade Unions, has demanded an inquiry into the alleged corruption in the corporation.
A statement, from general secretary of the union M.C. Josephine, alleged here on Tuesday that several complaints of corruption had been ignored by the management of the corporation.
Allegations were raised in the case of buying insecticides and pump-sets for spraying them on coconut trees affected by eriophyd mites (mandari), the statement said.
Though the corporation had promised organic manure kits for coconut farmers, they had not been supplied. Despite several allegations of malpractices in appointments, it was planning to recruit more people.
The statement said the Government had not listened to pleas for appointing dependents of 20 employees who had died in harness.
