Tension as fruit vendors clash with APMC officials
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
There was tension for over an hour on Arcot Srinivaschar Road in the City Market police station limits following a clash between fruit vendors and officials of the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) on Tuesday.
According to the police, the officials of the APMC objected to the sale of fruits by vendors at wholesale price instead of retail price there.
The APMC officials then asked the vendors to stop trading at the place.
However, the vendors denied the allegations and complained that they were not being given proper facilities for selling fruits.
The vendors insisted that the APMC officials should make suitable arrangements.
There was a verbal dual between the officials and the fruit vendors, which was followed by the clash.
The police had to intervene to pacify the two groups.
