Two women robbed of cash, valuables

BANGALORE: Two motorcycle-borne men relieved two women of their cash and other belongings here on Monday.

Roopa Das, a housewife, was relieved of her bag containing Rs. 7,000 in cash, an ATM card, a mobile phone, and other documents, while she was on her way back home in Koramangala 4th Block, from shopping. The incident occurred on 16th Main Road in Koramangala 6th Block.

The Koramangala police, who have registered a case, said a similar incident occurred on the same road on Sunday.

In the second incident, Lichi was relieved of her gold chain worth Rs. 18,000 on Goutampura Main Road in Ulsoor police station limits. According to the police, the incident occurred when Lichi, an employee of a food products retail outlet on Brigade Road, was returning to her house in Goutamapura at 9.30 p.m.

Suicide

A 29-year-old government employee jumped off the roof of the seventh floor of the multi-storeyed building on Tuesday and died. The police gave the name of the dead as N. Vijayalakshmi of the Provident Fund division of the State Planning Department. According to the police, Vijayalakshmi, a resident of Magadi Road, has in a note stating that nobody was responsible for her act.

Burglary

A jewellery shop on Giravi Road in Cottonpet police station limits was burgled and ornaments worth Rs. 2 lakhs were taken away on Monday. The police said the burglars gained entry to the shop through a hole made in a wall between the shop and a room.
