CHENNAI: The federation of sugar mill workers' unions has protested the "unilateral" wage revision announced by the State Government on Tuesday for cooperative and public sector sugar mills. In a joint statement here on Wednesday, the unions said though the South Indian Sugar Millowners Association (SISMA) entered into an agreement with unions for wage revision with retrospective effect from April 1, 2004, the Government announced a pay revision for the cooperative and public sector mills with effect from April 1, 2005. The Government "violated" the wage agreement between the SISMA and the unions.
