Bopanna, Amritraj in Davis Cup team

NEW DELHI: Rohan Bopanna and Prakash Amritraj have retained their place in the Indian Davis Cup squad following their good performance in the Chennai Open.

The selectors who met here on Wednesday named the same squad that had played Sweden in the World Group play-off in September, keeping Karan Rastogi as the reserve.

India will play the Davis Cup Asia-Oceania group `I' tie at Changwon, Korea, from February 10 to 12.

Meanwhile, the selectors have made the obvious choice of Sania Mirza and Shikha Uberoi for the Fed Cup Asia-Oceania group `I' tournament to be played in Seoul from April 17.

Six players, Rushmi Chakravarti, Ankita Bhambri, Sanaa Bhambri, Isha Lakhani, Poonam Reddy and Paarul Goswami have been named as the probables for the other two slots in the squad.

The team would be finalised after considering the performance of the players in the ITF women's tournaments in Delhi and Chennai in March-April.

The team (Davis Cup): Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, Prakash Amritraj and Rohan Bopanna; Reserve: Karan Rastogi. Coach: Nandan Bal.
