Congress owes explanation on Telangana: BJP

Staff Reporter

Indrasena Reddy says party still in favour of creation of smaller States

KHAMMAM: The Bharatiya Janata Party State president N. Indrasena Reddy wanted the Congress leadership to spell out its stand clearly on the demand for separate Telangana State. Addressing a news conference, he said the Congress party owed an explanation to the people on the kind of understanding it had with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) before going for the last general election. There could be no better occasion than the AICC plenary session to be held in Hyderabad for the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi to end her silence on the issue, he added. He said if the statements made by the Congress leaders G. Vekataswamy were of any indication, separate Telangana seems to be not on the agenda of the party. The TRS leadership, which still continued to share power with the Congress at the Centre should speak out. He said the Congress Government continued to mete out a raw deal for Telangana region.
